BIOGRAPHY
Walter Rastelli Born in Naples in 1993, he began taking film and directing courses during high school, while simultaneously learning, on his own, photography, video editing, and 3D animation. After graduating, he moved to Rome, where he continued his private training at the Libera Università del Cinema. Meanwhile, he collaborated with friends from the Naples area who shared a passion for cinema; this collaboration led, in October 2016, to the founding of the cultural association Drazil Production. In 2017, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, pursuing a degree in Cinema, Photography, and Television. To further hone his skills in 3D animation, in 2018 he attended a year-long course on Autodesk Maya at the Ilas school.
From 2018 to 2023 he co-founded and organized the Phlegraean Film Festival, an international short film festival held in Bacoli and the Campi Flegrei area.
In addition to his work with Drazil Production – which includes the creation of "Physis", a surreal psychological horror film awarded as Best Horror at the RED Movie Awards (2023) and Best Short Film at the Mindfield Film Festival (2023) – he has directed two animated short films: "Le Rendez-Vous des Arts" (2022), an allegorical fairy tale about the birth of cinema, and "The Threshold" (2025), a horror musical. The latter has received numerous awards, including the award for Best Animated Short Film at the San Francisco Frozen Film Festival (2025), the second prize for Best Short Film at the 24Frame Future Film Festival in Bologna (2025), a Special Mention at the Ariano International Film Festival (2025) and the award for Best Animated Short Film at the HorrOrigins Film Fest and at the Crown Point International Film Festival (where it also won the "Best of Fest" category for Best Animated Film in the 2025 edition).
